I started using onioins in my single egg and egg white omelets to add flavor along with green peppers and some feta cheese. So I decided to google the health benefits of onions and I was amazed! The benefits included: fighting cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

I went for the results yesterday of my visit to the  joint and spine center last week. Good news, bad news scenario as I suspected. Nothing atypical for a 65 yr old. Treatments began immediately!

Treatments for my joint discomfort will consist of chiropractic, physiotherapy, and injections in my left and right knee and lower back. The injections were not a corticosteroid but a natural healing substance.  I will be having treatments until mid Feb. I was also given a back brace and knee brace to wear 2 hrs each day and an electric stimulation kit for my knee to be used 30 min each day. Will keep everybody posted!

Arrived at my cardiologist office 7:15 AM  10/8 for my nuclear stress test. BP 107/72, very slow moving pics of my heart were taken, 14 mins on the treadmill with a steady increase in speed and incline to push my heart to a 140/min pace. BP and EKG were always monitored. Recovery heart beat was excellent. More pics were taken of my heart. I am presently waiting for results of the pictures which will identify any blockages, narrowing of the arteries, etc.

Nov 7th is my appt with my cardiologist to review my test results.

I had chicken pox so I did get the shingle vaccine!  Why? There is a high correlation between chicken pox and getting shingles as the Merck ads on TV very strongly show. The vaccine is expensive so shop around. I also saw the pain my dad was in, a Purple Heart recipient, a street kid from Brooklyn and he told me it was the worst pain he has ever experienced!

I did not get the flu vaccine! Never have. Rolling the dice? Lucky? Maybe! I eat well, take vitamins, take an aspirin a day, exercise and  most important-I am a prolific hand washer! The very last exercise I do at the gym is washing my hands with soap and hot water! I can't remember the last time I had the flu or a bad cold. Speak to your doctor! If your 60, I am 65 they will probably recommend the vaccine.

Please understand: When I blog about joint pain or pain in general I do so realizing there are millions and millions of people in this world suffering from major debilitating pain. My pain is more discomfort, I am still able to go to the gym and do things that many people cannot do, on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the highest degree of pain, I have never been there!

I had an appt today with a joint and spine center to help me deal with my discomfort. X-Rays were taken of my knee, thumb, wrist, lower back, elbow, and shoulder. Next Thursday I meet with DO's, DC's and PA's to determine my next course of action.
