MENISCUS

As previously posted on 1/30/15, I was diagnosed with a "complex tear" of the meniscus and surgery was recommended! I wanted to wait until the Spring/Summer! In the meantime I continued my leg exercises which consisted of: leg extensions, seated leg presses, seated ham strings curls, the glute machine and free squats on a bosu ball holding a weight plate! The key is that I did not go past thirty degrees as suggested by my orthopedist on every exercise, 15-20 reps and low weight! I am now doing things like walking 30 minutes which I could not do 2-3 months ago! I have read that a torn meniscus can heal itself depending on the severity of the tear! My tear was not a sudden trauma but years of wear and tear! My doctor suggested other courses of action which he did back in January but I opted for surgery then because of the discomfort! I will continue my course of self induced physical therapy which also includes ice after working out and heat before working out! Hoping for the best!
