ARTHRITIS

"It is a disease for old people! It's many years away"! This is what I told myself! The time has arrived, I am old and I have arthritis! It is an inflammation of the joints, in my case it has affected my knees! The cartilage between the joints is being worn away. It is painful! My knees are stiff and lack flexibility. At times it hurts to walk! The cause is probably from the physical stress from years of running and of course aging! Although I know people my age with no problems from arthritis and they are running all the time. There maybe a possible genetic connection!
I do special leg exercises to strengthen surrounding muscles and to increase the range of motion! I also do stretching exercises as well! I take anti-inflammatories to ease the pain! Sometimes I wear a knee brace! Since I cannot run I swim, a great exercise that engages practically every muscle!
