After undergoing many non invasive procedures, as told in aforementioned posts to avoid knee replacement surgery unfortunately it may be inevitable! My MD's predict within twelve months! I am in constant discomfort 24/7! I was prescribed Voltaren Gel to ease the pain, after three weeks I chose to discontinue, no relief! Plus to many side effects for a person with my cardiac history! Arthritis is the main culprit, although I can do certain moves with very little knee discomfort I also believe I have extensive soft tissue damage! I do have meniscus issues! I have constant "pins and needles" in my feet and was told to see a neurologist because it's a nerve issue! I believe it's related to my knee issues! It was suggested I see an acupuncturist, I have my doubts! I have already spent $800.00 out of pocket for a PRP injection! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I received a PRP injection Feb 23, in my left knee hoping for positive results to ease my discomfort, mainly due to arthritis but also contributing to the discomfort is a torn meniscus and a bone spur! It would take 3-6 weeks to fully realize any benefits! My doctor did advise me before I paid $800.00, my insurance did not cover the procedure, that it may or may not help! Unfortunately after 2 1/2 months as far as I can surmise the injection did not help! How would my knee feel if I did not receive the injection? The discomfort is still present! This is not to say it would not help you! Every case is different, every person is different, every knee is different!

After undergoing Suparz injections, cortisone injections and Orthovisc injections , previously posted, to alleviate my left knee pain with no noticeable results, my last resort was injections of PRP, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma! It was done on Feb 22, it takes 3-6 weeks to fully feel the effects and you are not guaranteed positive results! Your blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge where the blood is separated into plasma and platelets! The platelets were injected into my left knee to promote the healing of injured tendons, muscles and joints! The whole process takes less then an hour! The injection itself is a very long 30 seconds, give or take a few seconds! It is not pleasurable, regardless of what you read! The next 3-5 days your knee is sore! I will report the results in several weeks! Just to let you know my insurance did not cover the procedure, some insurance companies do! I will appeal and hopefully recover some of my $800.00 out of pocket expense!

After months of discomfort due to a torn meniscus, a bone spur and arthritis I  elected to receive  injections of Orthovisc into my left knee! It is made from natural hyaluronan which is similar to the fluid that surrounds the joints in your body! It was a series of three injections, my last one was two weeks ago Friday! Update: Unfortunately the injections have not helped  to ease the discomfort! I will explore other remedies but I honestly feel surgery is on the horizon!
